        What is sound in Film?

"Sound in a movie includes music, dialogue, sound effects, ambient noise and/or background noise, and soundtracks. Some sort of sound is always used to enhance the movie experience."

The purpose of sound in film is to, "deliver information, making it clear what’s happening in the plot of the film. It also adds another level to the production value, heightening the immersive nature of the production."

        Who is responsible for the sound in film?

The Production Sound Mixer is the one responsible for recording high-quality audio on set, location for film, television productions, and leads the production sound crew.

Production Sound Mixer: Steve Boeddeker

Style: Boeddeker's style included the mixing of corresponding sound elements in order to create the message of his movie. For example, when he wanted to make a soundtrack for a peaceful moment he mixes sounds to range between soft and beautiful. If he wanted an action-filled scene he mixes sound to make a range between loud and exciting.




Movies he's known for: Black panther (2018), Hellboy (2004),  X-Men (2000), and Daredevil (2003) 

        Elements

Dialogue- "brings forth the story by showing the communication and interaction of two or more characters in the film."

Music/Soundtrack-a selection of songs chosen to be featured in a film

Sound Effects- "Are used to provide an additional layer of realism to the scene."

Final Product (post production)

             https://youtu.be/UvkJotit_yQ                     After months of research, analysis, and production we finally finished our intro. We decided to give the main character (Spence Spencer), narration during the intro and ending sequences. During our first edit, we looked back at comedy movies and realized many had the main character narrate while no dialogue was occurring. We decided to follow this convention. We also added a new scene at the end to better establish the narrative of the rest of the movie. Another change that was added was the makeup. In our first draft it was obvious we never put thought into the makeup so we changed that by using makeup to give Spencer the main character a black eye in the last shot.
