Semiotics: A study of Signs, symbols and codes group powerpoint. (Preliminary Exercise)

For our assignments we researched semiotics. Semiotics is the study of signs and symbols and their use or interpretation. My group and I agreed that we should look into comedy and actions because that's we felt most comfortable with the signs in that genre. The point of this assignment was to research a movie and note its genres, conventions, signs (denotative or connotative), and many symbols.

I was responsible for slides 7-14. However, I'm only showing slides 12 and 12 because they were the reflection slides and show what was learned through our research. This research we conducted helped strengthen our understanding of how a character should contribute to telling the genre of the story with the props. We also learned how to use the elements of mise en scene to better connect our conventions to our movie opening.

We plan on using what we learned from this exercise to add more meaning to our movie without dialogue through our use of signs, symbols, and mainly props. For our opening, we plan to use a back to make the audience more interested by keeping what's inside a mystery while making a comedy. Similar to how I spider man the drones asses meaning the scenes while comedic parts were playing.
