Genre (Research).

In class, we took notes on film codes and introductions to codes. From the notes, I learned that there were over 8 different types of signifiers. After the notes, we did a practice exercise on the trailer for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. After the practice, I realized the acting of background characters could be broken down into codes to better grasp an understanding of the overall codes of the movies.

This practice was helpful because it gave me a better understanding of what makes a genre. Originally I thought the genre was composed of dialogue and actions. Understanding how colors, lighting, and the setting is going to be helpful when planning a spot for the 2 min intro. Likely were going to record a draft during the day because we want an action-comedy and having the sun would be better than recording during nighttime.
