How our movie was editied (production)

 



        When entering our post-production phase we began editing. We split the editing amongst ourselves. I was responsible for editing the voices. For some scenes, I had to record a voice-over and edit it to fit into the movie smoothly. This was noticeable at the end when the main character was knocked out so we couldn't have him speak. Instead, we gave him an internal monolog. I recorded and edited the voiceover using a voice recording app on my laptop. I used this because it offered many ways to edit and suppress background noise which was a problem we had when recording voiceovers. It took me several attempts and edits to get a proper voice-over for the end scene.

        The recordings from recordings 1 and 2 were me voicing over the main character lines "Man I should have known not to take this bag. Barry is done, and Nic is for setting me up". The reason why there were two files was that on the initial recording the sound of my mouse clicking to start and stop the recording could be heard. For the audio files 3-6, it was another voiceover of the main character saying " This is my story. I'm Spencer Spence, and some of my friends would say I'm a cool kid. But my life changed today when Nic came up to me".

    The recording(2) was the one used during the final shot of the movie. It was to conclude the intro in a way that could create the suspense of the comedic setup previously established. Recording(6) was the only other file used in the final product. It was used during the begging to set up a premise between Nic and Spencer since we didn't know how to introduce Nic with dialogue since his appearance isn't long.

Genre Case Study: Film Representation: Message and audience (Preliminary Exercise)

           For section 2 of the midterm, we were tasked with answering questions about the intended messages and audience of the film. The group worked together on this part. For questions that needed research, my groupmate Nicholas who was primarily in charge of the section would, research and explain what he found. From that information, we collaborated on what we thought the best answer was and he documented it. Final Product (post production)

             https://youtu.be/UvkJotit_yQ                     After months of research, analysis, and production we finally finished our intro. We decided to give the main character (Spence Spencer), narration during the intro and ending sequences. During our first edit, we looked back at comedy movies and realized many had the main character narrate while no dialogue was occurring. We decided to follow this convention. We also added a new scene at the end to better establish the narrative of the rest of the movie. Another change that was added was the makeup. In our first draft it was obvious we never put thought into the makeup so we changed that by using makeup to give Spencer the main character a black eye in the last shot.
