It took several attempts to present the slides without stuttering or skipping slides and having to go back. For the slides, I chose a background that is a conventional setting of my genre. When people think of a comedy setting there are many places to go but I chose a stage to keep the words visible. My critical reflection shows the extent of my research alongside my applications of the conventions to my movie. Before starting the critical reflection I reviewed our pre-production drafts and our post-production film edits. I did this so that I could understand the impacts that editing has made on the movie and understand what conventions were followed and why. We decided to give the main character (Spence Spencer), narration during the intro and ending sequences. During our first edit, we looked back at comedy movies and realized many had the main character narrate while no dialogue was occurring. We decided to follow this convention. We also added a new scene at the end to better establish the narrative of the rest of the movie. Another change that was added was the makeup. In our first draft it was obvious we never put thought into the makeup so we changed that by using makeup to give Spencer the main character a black eye in the last shot.

           For our visual edits, we keep it simple. We used simple cuts throughout the intro. Comedy movies and films tend to use simple cuts. From the movies, we researched we notice fadeaways were used but situationally. We also decided that simple cuts made the audience more focused on the narration of the main character and the overall narrative          In our script,t we established a timeline that needed to be implanted into our movie. We decided on using text to establish a timeline. The reason we chose this font and color was that we saw this in one of the most popular comedy shows of the early 2000s. The font is similarly used in the show Friends and other sitcoms. We keep this convention since we thought it would have been the best way to keep continuity in the film and the text keeps the lighthearted tone of the film.     The final scene of our movie has a more serious tone prior than the other parts but still ...

https://youtu.be/DZAH2FZHzcM          This was a clip we took to establish the main character outside the school setting. It was supposed to be the first shot. We planned to use it after an establishing shot. The scenario was supposed to introduce Spence's relation to Nicholas over a phone call. This was cut for two reasons. We agreed that doing this we couldn't use different types of shots and it would be boring to establish characters without them present unless is done perfectly. The other reason it was cut was that Nicholas wouldn't have enough time outside his initial introduction to properly establish him as a main or side character.

              For our film, we used several platforms for different reasons. We used word documents, PowerPoint, and group chats to store our research and film. We communicated through social media. Lastly, we edited through voice recorder, wevideo, and our phones. Virtual platforms played a major role in our products because it lets us spread and access our information from anywhere. This was important since one of my teammates was bound to his house due to injuries.          The different platforms are all linked to production in several ways. The draft of the film opening was laid out on word documents and PowerPoints. The layouts on the documents organized the stages of our production, it was used as a checklist for what needed to be done and what was done.            What is editing in film and what is its purpose?          Editing in the film is the technique used to assemble shots in a coherent sequence. Its purpose is to blend images and sounds to a point that makes the audience feel like they're in the film.          How did my group and I approach storytelling editing?     My team and I used editing to present the title of our movie and the name of the production company. We dididn'tdnt use editing to introduce any credits because we wanted to challenge the convention. Editing made our tone set a fast papacesce.            When entering our post-production phase we began editing. We split the editing amongst ourselves. I was responsible for editing the voices. For some scenes, I had to record a voice-over and edit it to fit into the movie smoothly. This was noticeable at the end when the main character was knocked out so we couldn't have him speak. Instead, we gave him an internal monolog. I recorded and edited the voiceover using a voice recording app on my laptop. I used this because it offered many ways to edit and suppress background noise which was a problem we had when recording voiceovers. It took me several attempts and edits to get a proper voice-over for the end scene.          The recordings from recordings 1 and 2 were me voicing over the main character lines "Man I should have known not to take this bag. We also need to add 2 more scenes to better introduce the main character. I got to play the main character because I'm naturally fit for comedy. For our editing, we decided it would be best to keep it simple because editing doesn't dominate the movies in the comedy genre. Also since this is just the first draft we don't want to add too much that it would make our final product over 2 minutes.               To create comedy, in our movie we used a combination of dialogue and acting.          In class, we had to pitch our ideas for our movies to another group and get feedback on what they thought. From the feedback, we realized that we have to go more in-depth about our movie's concepts, and themes. We also learned we had to make it clear what was happening or going to happen to the main character at the end of the movie. Were going to use this information to write a script that is detailed and can answer all questions. Overall, the other group liked the concept of our movie and believes it can work if we can make the movie clearer. The biggest weakness that needs to be addressed is our lack of depth, and our strength is that the concept we're going for was interesting.
